Electricty Price Rise Is Not Unreasonable
East Londonderry UUP Assembly member David McClarty says Northern Ireland Electricity have shown regard for their customers by keeping their price rise in line with inflation.

Mr. McClarty said: “While no-one is jumping up and down about having to pay more for anything, NIE’s 3.2 per cent increase for most domestic customers is well below the rises imposed on consumers in the mainland.

“After the pricing problems experienced by gas customers in recent times, this increase has been kept to a minimum thanks to considerable work by the electricity regulator Ofreg and the Government.

“Householders in Great Britain have been faced with average rises five times in excess of what NIE is levying here while the increase in the Republic is around 17 per cent,” said Mr. McClarty.
