Acknowledging Margaret Peacock & Vineyard Church Created by Claire Sugden in 1/3/2012 1:58:52 PM
I would like to acknowledge Margaret Peacock and the Vineyard Church who selflessly entertained over 100 guests for Christmas Day dinner in separate events. Preparing Christmas dinner for a few can be stressful and expensive, however Margaret and the Vineyard Church each catered for over 100 people, this feat in itself worthy of recognition.
Christmas is special and an important time for families. It should be a happy time and no one should feel guilty for enjoying themselves. In the midst of the festivities, however, it is easy to forget that there are those who will spend Christmas alone or simply cannot afford to put food on their table. Margaret and the Vineyard each welcomed these people to share their Christmas. They sacrificed personal family time to give good food and company to those who faced the potential of spending the day alone. Margaret and the Vineyard are inspiration within our community, embracing the true spirit of Christmas.
I must pay special tribute to Margaret Peacock, an unsung hero of Coleraine. As well as organising Christmas Day dinner for over twenty years, throughout the year she runs the local Fibromyalgia helpline from her living roon giving advice to others. She is a gem within our society; I personally congratulate and thank her for her work.
